Designs by Derek Tyson Geisser have been seen in Style Magazine, Chicago Magazine, and Italian Vogue. He has been a featured designer on tv’s DIY and H.G.T.V. networks. His designs have been seen locally on 190 North, Fox and Friends, NBC and WGN. He has traveled from Tokyo to Vienna in pursuit of design study.
“I learned a great deal by experiencing how cities and cultures around the world deal with design and scale.”
Derek has designed homes for several celebrities including a recently featured design for New York Jets Super Bowl champion R.W. Mc Quarters. Other notable designs associated with Architexture Design include interiors for the New York home of Jennifer Lopez, members of the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox.
“I enjoy all aspects of design…everything from new construction, to re-thinking
designs for the existing housing market…I especially enjoy breathing new life into
existing homes.”
Derek has designed temporary-furnished homes for visiting movie celebrities and has Staged model units for numerous developers such as Pulte Homes, Wyseman Hughes, and the 15,000 unit UIC Village Development on Chicago’s near west loop.
“The UIC Village development provided a chance to prove to developers the
importance of simple overlooked elements of staging. In an experiment with 20
identical models I added a few $5 indirect floor lamps for dramatic up-lighting
and a medium size plant in half of the units. The 20 models that sold first were
models that featured these simple additions. It proved the lessons learned abroad,
and how common staging can often overlook essential, economical, psychological
design elements that sub-consciously attract buyers.”
Derek Tyson Geisser has also been a guest speaker at The Chicago Academy of Arts, Columbia College and the Art Institute of Chicago. He has designed notable nightclubs, art galleries, and restaurants inboth the New York and Chicago area. Derek also focuses on professional staging consultation for families in the existing housing market.
“Over the years I’ve occasionally been asked for staging input for friends and
family and directly witnessed how important it was for them to sell their house
quickly…and for the target amount they needed. Since then I have turned most
of the knowledge learned helping corporations and developers to focus on
people and families who need every advantage in a slow real estate market.”
Derek’s education background includes the study of Design and Engineering
at Northwestern University, and Art at the Chicago Academy of Arts. His unique background
successfully blends design, the study of ergonomics and timeless architectural elements for an unmatched insight for any interior design need.
